Infantry on the sea and in the air.German paratroopers or “Fallschirmjäger” are some of the most effective special forces in the entire modern German Army. There is a single division of roughly 10,000 men in active service with the Bundeswehr today. Nearly the entire division is airdrop capable, with all personnel and equipment air transportable. German sailors in WWII were nearly always outnumbered and outgunned but they fought hard to break the blockade and sink Allied shipping.
